Firewise West Virginia Program Update

The Firewise West Virginia program now has its own email address! If you want to find out more about our program or just send us a hello message, send it to firewise.westvirginia@wv.gov and we'll be sure to reply.

Also, the WVDOF has received federal funding to support the Firewise program for another year, and we anticipate starting a small-scale community grant program with part of the funds. Our intent is to make grants available to our cooperating FWWV communities that have received Community Wildfire Protection Plans, in order to help them do some mitigation projects in their neighborhoods. More information will be coming out in the next few months....stay tuned.

Basic Wildland Fire Training at Burlington VFD

There will be a Basic Wildland Fire Training Course held at Burlington VFD in Mineral County, WV, at the end of February. The session will start with S190, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, on Friday, February 27^th at 6:00 pm. The course will continue on Saturday and Sunday with S130, Basic Firefighter Training.
