It's been quite a busy summer so far, with the Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Academy behind us now, plus the move of our Regional office to a new building. Please check our agency website http://www.wvforestry.com for new address and phone number for the Region 1 Headquarters.
As we look forward to the Fall 2008 Fire Season, I'd like to remind everyone to keep your Situational Awareness up and stay safe! Follow the Standard Orders and Watch-Outs!
Please spread the word about this blog to other folks that might be interested in wildfire in our little part of the world. I'd be happy to see anybody read this!

2008 Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Academy Opens Registration
The website for this year's Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Academy is up and running. The Academy will be held in Morgantown, WV from June 7-13, 2008. Go to http://www.mawfta.com to see the course schedule and register to attend!
This academy is designed for wildland firefighters who are working their way up through the training requirements. Several courses will be offered from the basics to advanced. Courses will be taught by instructors from state fire agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region, as well as fire managers from our partner federal agencies.
It will be a great week, so check out the website and join us!
